Squash for Schools

One of the ways we are working to expose more young people to squash is through the Inflatable Mini Squash program.

The program caters for students from Pre-Primary through to Year 6, with a big focus on developing their basic hand/eye coordination skills.  Younger students are provided with modified equipment (‘Big Hand’ bats) with years 3 and above generally taking part in the racquet-based program which also sees an introduction to the basic rules of the game.  The sessions can get super competitive with ‘winner stays in’ or team challenges, to motivate the students.

Our programs are delivered by accredited coaches (with current Working With Children checks) who simply need:

  • Access to the school’s undercover area/hall;
  • access to power to keep the courts inflated; and
  • extra floor space for warm up and skills practice activities conducted off the inflatable courts.

Sessions are conducted in line with your school timetable, with 40 to 60 minutes per class being an ideal amount of time to run the program in.

Our programs can be delivered in two formats – a FREE day visit (generously supported by Fuel to Go & Play), or you can book in for the 4 to 5 week ‘Oz Squash’ program through sporting schools funding applications.

If you know of a school that would love a visit, email development@wasquash.asn.au and we’ll get you started.
